Born in London, England, Roland de Wolfe became fascinated with card and gambling games during childhood, which he learned from other family members. He developed this passion further by playing against other friends from school, continuing throughout his education in journalism and early reporting jobs. His particular love for poker was brought to the fore when he began writing for Inside Edge, a popular poker publication.

roland de wolfeWhile travelling the length and breadth of the country in order to report of the UK tournament circuit, he began participating in various cash games himself; gradually progressing onto tournaments. In 2004 he made the final table of the European Poker Championships in London. The first final table of his poker career, he managed to place 6th, and take home winnings of £4,072. He promptly followed this initial success by winning first place in the £150 Pot Limit Hold’em Event at The Gunshot Poker Festival in London, taking winnings of £4,372.

After moderate cashes at the 2004 Caribbean Poker Classic and 36th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, de Wolfe entered the €10,000 Grand Prix de Paris World Poker Tour Event at the Rendez Vous a Paris, 2005. He took the first place, and cashed a bank swelling €479,680, as well as having his name spoken around the poker communities of Europe. However, Paris was merely a warm up for de Wolfe’s next major victory. Buying into the World Poker Tour Championship 2006 in Las Vegas for $25,000, he found himself at the final table. He finished in third place, taking over $1 million. In between, he had also cashed in the Fourth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic, Las Vegas, and the Poker Players Agency Tournament, London; for $24,150 and $4,329 respectively.

2006 also saw de Wolfe make the final table in the World Series of Poker $2000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout, finishing third $65,520. Later that same year he won first place in the European Poker Tour Irish Masters in Dublin for €554,300. Along the way he managed cash wins in The Bellagio Weekly Tournaments and $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Event at the WSOP.

Since then, de Wolf has graced such prestigious events as the PartyPoker.com World Open, Barcelona Open, 888.com Poker Open, Fifth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic, Paddy Power Irish Open and the Poker million VII. In 2009 he earned his first World Series of Poker bracelet, when he won the WSOP $5000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event. As of 2010, he has made a total of 16 WSOP cashes, and taken live tournament earnings of over $4,800,000. He continues to participate in poker events in England and around the world.
