Praz Bansi

Praz Bansi Uk Poker PlayerHailing from London,  Praz Bansi’s love for poker was sparked when he watched a friend win $50,000 in one sitting. While working as a recruitment consultant, he downloaded online poker software onto his work computer; beginning to play and teach the game to himself.

After some minor success, he felt confidant enough in his skills to head to Las Vegas in order to compete in the 2006 World Series of Poker. The first event he entered was the $2000 No Limit Hold’em, where he finished 73rd, winning $7,462. However, his career as a pro was firmly established when he entered the $1000 No Limit Hold’em Event, going on to be crowned winner. He took home $230,209 and a WSOP bracelet.

Returning to America in December of that same year, Bansi competed in four $1000 No Limit Hold’em events at the Fifth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He made the final table in each, finishing 3rd in three of the events and 4th in one. Overall, he could walk out of the Bellagio with his held high, and an additional $47,840 in his pocket.

In January 2007, Bansi had a victory on home soil when he won the £1000 No Limit Hold’em event at the inaugural GUKPT event in Bolton. He beat a field of 187 players to take 1st place, adding a healthy $145,580 to his bankroll. He swiftly added to his Grosvenor victory by winning the £1000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the Poker Festival in Birmingham. Besting 92 other entrants, his first place win gave him prize money of $60,979.

Returning to Vegas and the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, Bansi found himself competing in the $25,000 World Poker Tour No Limit Hold’em Championship this time. The event had a turn-out of 639 entrants, generating a $15.5 million prize pool. Bansi finished the event in 50th place, earning himself $61,880. Attending the 2007 World Series of Poker, he entered two $2000 Pot Limit Hold’em events, finishing in 10th and 16th place respectively. His total earnings for his efforts came to $35,371. Returning to Las Vegas in 2008, Bansi took a further $39,570 at the  Five Diamond World Poker Classic, and $9,018 in the WSOP.

Bansi has gone on to enjoy cash wins at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, the World Series of Poker Europe, and was named UK Player of the Year in 2009 by Poker Player Magazine. His live tournament earnings now exceed $2,300,000, and his star shows no signs of fading.

Praz’s latest pay day was the gukpt London 2011 where he won £101,020 for his 1st place finish.
