Titan Poker Team Pro Sam Trickett Wins British Poker Award
Following a first place finish at PartyPoker’s World Open and a fourth place finish at EPT Vilamoura, Sam Trickett was selected as Best New Player by his British poker peers.
Titan Poker Team member Sam Trickett was chosen as the Best New Player by his British poker peers and received his award at the inaugural British Poker Awards ceremony at London’s Kensington Close Hotel on September 13. Trickett’s dominance of the European poker circuit has become very apparent with his recent first place finish at PartyPoker’s World Open and a fourth place finish at the EPT Vilamoura in Portugal.
Earlier this month, Trickett took home first prize of $200,000 at PartyPoker’s World Open poker tournament held at the Palm Beach Casino in London. The win came a short time after Trickett finished in 4th Place at the EPT Vilamoura 2010 Main Event tournament in Portugal for a prize of €139,680.
Trickett competed in the World Open and at the EPT Vilamoura on behalf of TitanPoker.com, the leading online poker room in Europe.
Forty-eight top poker players participated in the $10,000 buy-in World Open tournament, which was staged in a series of heats. According to media reports, “Trickett was phenomenal in his Heat, and equally prolific in the final.” As professional poker commentator Mike Sexton said,
“He’s one helluva player, and you’ll be hearing a lot more of Sam Trickett, I can promise you that.”
Trickett dominated most of the Vilamoura poker tournament, the biggest poker event ever held in Portugal, until a run of bad luck at the Final Table left him with a fourth place exit. Team Titan colleague Joel Benzinou finished in 48th place at the same event with a prize of €7,822.
Trickett recently enjoyed huge success at the 2010 World Series of Poker* in Las Vegas, cashing out in at a number of the events. He finished in second place in the $5,000 NL Hold’em Event #17, for a prize of $505,725. With five other cash-outs, he left Vegas with a grand total of $693,827 in prizes.
Along with the other members of Team Titan, Trickett is set for more action on the European poker circuit with participation already confirmed for EPT London 2010 at the end of September.
Team Titan is a 6-member professional team led by Sorel Mizzi, one of the most well-known online poker players. The other team members are Sam Trickett, Marvin Rettenmaier, Jonas Klausen, Yann Brosolo, Florian Desgouttes, and Joel Benzinou.
Online poker players have been given the opportunity to hunt down and knock out the members of Team Titan in a series of exclusive Titan Poker bounty tournaments culminating in Heads Up clashes with the team during the month of November.
